Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Does Flickr Music contain spyware or adware?

No! Flickr Music doesn't install any form of ad ware, spy ware or malware software.

Q. Where do all my downloaded files go to?

You can choose the location of your downloaded files by going to "Flicr Music Control Panel->Transfer->Download folder", the default download location is "C:\Program Files\Flickr Music\My Shared Folder" on Windows98-ME and "C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Flickr Music\My Shared Folder" on Windows XP-Vista. Pay attention: Flickr Music won't copy your previously downloaded files to the new folder if you change the location; also keep in mind that you have to restart Flickr Music to apply new settings.

Q. Why do some things take so long to download?

The speed at which a download takes place is limited by both the bandwidth of the downloader and by the bandwidth of the up loader. A document cannot by transferred faster than the up loader is not capable of sending it, nor can it be transferred faster than the downloader is capable of receiving it. To Maximize transfer speed chose search results having more than 2 yellow stars and configure your firewall/router to allow traffic through Flickr Music' data port (your data port is in control panel->transfer->Accept incoming connections on port:)

 Q. What does Queued mean?

It means that you are downloading from a busy user and your request has been placed in a queue. If you are willing to wait long enough, you will probably get the file.

Q. Flickr Music is denied access to the Internet by a firewall?

If you are using a software firewall such as Zone Alarm, McAfee Internet Security, or Norton Internet security/Norton 360, you will be prompted to allow or deny Flickr Music access to the Internet. This may happen several times because Flickr Music needs to establish a number of outgoing and incoming connections.
You will need to accept all requests by Flickr Music to access the Internet.
If you denied Flickr Music access to the Internet by mistake, you can reset the permission rules in the control panel of your firewall.

Q. How can I keep Out Viruses?

Some files are infected with computer viruses like worms and Trojans. These viruses, if allowed access to your computer, can delete files, corrupt your operating system, or even cause permanent hardware damage.
To protect you from unwittingly contaminating your computer with a virus, Flickr Music does not allow you to launch certain file types (e.g. .exe, .bat, .vbs, and .bin) from within the application. In addition, Flickr Music can be configured to filter out suspicious files from the search results.
However, the best way to keep your computer protected is to always scan new files with an up-to-date virus scanner.

Q. How can I filter out Inappropriate Content?

Flickr Music can be configured to filter out files that contain adult content. This is especially useful when you allow other family members to use Flickr Music on your computer.
